3rd Mountain Lion Taken

ND Game & Fish - Saturday (10/28/06) afternoon the third mtn. lion in the ’06-07 season was harvested by an upland hunter. The lion was taken just west of Washburn along the Missouri River.

The hunter came upon the cat down in a ravine on his property and shot it within 15 yards with one shot from a shotgun. Initially reported to be a female, the lion turned out to be a young male when Dorothy Fecske checked the cat over Sunday morning. The lion was aged at 1 1/2 - 2 yrs old, measured 82 in. long, and weighed in at 107 lbs. This leaves 2 more lions to fulfill the season quota of 5. The season runs until March 11, 2007...
