not all next season. ESPN just said should be back in about week 7.

If i know AP, he is one of the hardest working guys in the league..i expect him to fly through rehab and be back week 1!
Might sound crazy but could happen.

Grrr iPhone.

Darn, I was hoping for a good toilet bowl game match up but at least have something to cheer for in stopping. Guess gotta be Toby.

Bummer, no fun losing a guy like that.

Dang that sucks. I know the hit on him yesterday didn't look good but I was hoping the injury wasn't going to be that serious. Toby has been looking good lately so should fill in nicely. Hopefully they let Ponder sit out and let Webb play.

Let Ponder sit out? MAKE him sit out, Webb played 10x better yesterday.  This coming from someone who is NOT a vikings fan.

It was only a matter of time before he got hurt that bad. Probably the beginning of the end for AP. He'll be 27 next year and most running backs peak at 28 or 29.

Always said his running style would get him. He made it a long time though.

Webb? You guys not see tebow's performance?

Or does web have accuracy and defense reading abilities?

Webb is ok. It all comes down to game planning. Start Webb and bring ponder in later in the game and good things would happen. Give the bears a week to game plan against Webb and he wont look as good as he has the last 2 weeks. Ponder is fairly mobile but teams will put a spy backer in to shadow him and slow him down.

However, I did hear on ESPN that the vikings will be staying in Minnesota that did make me happy.

If you give d-coordinaters a chance to plan against webb he is screwed... Ponder is the Queen of the future.....losing AP sucks. On a positive note the PACK came out tonight as angry as I expected....Home field advantage throughout.....Look out the Nfc comes through LAMBEAU.....GO PACK GO

Tough to imagine he will ever be the same with that kind of injury.

How do you figure that? I've been wanting to see Webb, AP, and Harvin in the backfield together all year. All 3 of them can take it to the house on any play. Force the defense to put 3 shadows on them and that opens up the WR's and the TE's. Put a LB or a S on Harvin or AP, and we have a mismatch.

I'm all for seeing them go to a run option offense with short passes in the mix.

I used to be indecisive, now I'm not so sure about that!

You won't get to see all 3 of them now!  Also if you put Harvin in the backfield, who is left at the WR position?  There would be no difference, yep they would get some yards but MN only has 2 decent (well 1 now) players.  It too easy for defenses to adjust and cover the 3 of them the same results as this whole year.  I heard this stuff at the beginning of the season with McNabb.  "oh he can run and throw and with AP and PH they will be unstoppable". they only thing unstoppable about MN is that they will be mid to bottom of the pack for 5-7 years.  They should have gotten rid of AP when his stock was high, it just plummeted!  He is not worth a 1st round pick anymore in my mind.  Here comes the beating from all the fans but really, he may comeback from this injury but he will never be the same, he will be a year older, and other teams will not be interested in him anymore.

Lots of guys come back and lots do not.  Most recent I can think of is Wes Welker and that guy is running the slot and all sorts of routes that put him in position to get whacked on the leg all the time.  He is a little more crafty and disciplined in his running.  Peterson might have issues with his up-forward running style.

He'll get back on the field and then we will see the result.  I imagine he will be okay.  The same?  No way to determine that yet.

AP has alot better chance of making it back then Charles does.
Only time will tell. I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back and continues to be very productive.

He will come back and be just fine. Maybe a step slower but that might just make him a way above average back instead of a superback.

In this day and age of free agency and parity in the nfl it does not take 5-7 years to become competitive.  It can turn around in as little as a year or two.  Just look at the 49ers this year.
