If so, I am looking for Ideas on making my fly station/materials portable.  I have a trip planned for June and need to be able to bring supplies to tie up some stuff back at camp.  I was planning on using some sort of zip-lock binder for most of the material.  Small Tackle box for hooks, beads, eyes, ect.

Looking for Ideas.

gillgetter,

I' ve used a medium sized Plano tackle box for years.  It works great for half the cost of something made specific for fly tying.  The box I have has a shallow top lid with customizable compartments.  I use that for all my tools, beadheads, hooks etc... while the bottom opens up and is basically just a large empty compartment.  I keep my vise and all materials in there. Hope this helps.

I like the looks of that Orvis bag but DANG is Orvis spendy!  I hope there's more suggestions, I don't tie my own (yet) but I would like to have a portable setup if possible when I do start...

I ty em but admit I'm a tyingmaterialoholic and have a whole desk full of raw materials.   Guys in the club bring good sized tackle boxes full of tying material, and usually are sure they bring the stuff for flies to be discussed that meeting, and leave the other 37 pounds of material at home.
I was going to invite you to the MVFFC but see you are in G Forks.   Where you fishing this spring?   As I'm sure you are aware, you can catch a lot more than just trout with flies, and have a ball doing it.

bobcat- I emailed the mvff club about membership a year or so ago with no response back...hmm.  It would've been nice to hook up with some other fly guys but oh well I guess...

portability is over rated. i just cram about 150 flies into the two largest flyboxes made. all winter means preparing for the june trip! pre-tie them all, all colors, all sizes from 1/0 to 6/0. then when someone else in the group isnt prepared you can really jack up prices! looking at getting a renzetti vise. mine is done for. it was a starter cabelas vise ive been using for a few years, but 6/0 hooks have created a gap in the jaws and wont hold for crap anymore.

Bobkat,
I'm heading to SE mn.  Gonna spend a week working different systems.  Just like the idea of being able to tie from the education the stream has given me throughout the day.

I picked this up at cabelas last night for $22.  Got dam near all my stuff in it.(minus the big pike fibers and such).

I was amazed at how much I could cram in this thing.

40s or bust,
Believe me, I've been tying in anticipation for spring pike also.  Just ordered a blackfoot mongoose(couldn't stretch the wallet far enough for a renzetti).

I would still like to hook up at devils this spring sometime.

Oh, and Bobkat, I flyfish for everything from carp to walleyes, cut throat to small mouth.
