I have a Moen anti scald faucet that has never worked right,  It just puts out  luke warm   water.  I took it apart and adjusted it with no luck .      I turned up the water heater up   and still the same.         I was thinking about choking down the cold water supply   but I doubt that will work either.    Does anyone have any expierence in this department ?

There should be some kind of adjustment on the mixing valve or on the valve cartridge itself.  Google it.

if it is an anti scald faucet and puts out lukewarm water, it seems like it is doing its job.....jk. Hope you can figure it out. Spray some wd-40 on it. If that doesn't fix it, nothing will.

I don't think ours is a moen, but after some tinkering I got it to work OK. More of a pain in the derriere than they are worth. Just buy a bigger water heater and turn it down is my solution from here on out. No way I plan on replacing the other 6 faucets in the house for temp control.

BB,

I'm good RIGHT NOW with all plumbing.  A Purdy or H&H; 2 3/4 16ga would be fine if you happen upon it.  English stock and double trigger please.  I'll get you back.

I've got 3 of the Moen anti scalds in my showers and one of them I just installed. All the adjustment does is stop the handle from turning beyond a point toward hot. More adjustment equals more hot/less cold. If the adjustment isn't working, either your hot water isn't hot enough OR something is blocking the hot water supply at the faucet or in the line coming to it. Make sense?

Yes,  That makes perfect sense.   The only thing I have not checked is if something is blocking the hot water supply line.   Thanks .

I had the same problem with a moen faucet. Heres the solution that worked for me.  First mine was a pressure balanced faucet which a lot of new ones are.  I called moen and got a cartridge replacement from them at no cost.  You might not need it but you will need the wrench that comes with it.  I removed the cartridge and put the new one in, and when I looked at the old one closely there was a ball of solder in the port that would restrict the water from coming through on the hot side.  One other sign that it might be blocked is if you turn it all the way to hot the water pressure should be low. Good lock.

Are the other faucets in your home hot enough to your liking? If so I don't think a blockage at the water heater would be the problem.

Sounds like a blockage at the mixing mechanism. U should be able to pull the guts without any demo work after removing the handle and face plate. Sometimes they have a chunk of solder or even sand from the manufacturing process.

Thanks to all for the advice.       It must be a blockage in the cartridge as mentioned above.

I'm guessing it's a manufacturing defect.  Moens are famous for them.
