Airsoft guns

OK, so sometime back I bought an airsoft gun, the cheap remington version from Scheels for me to start working with a 4 and 5 yr old on shooting.

The thing is a huge POS with a 17 lb (guessing) trigger pull and doesn't feed the pellets for crap.

What have any of you found that you like?

Crossman 760. Nough' said.
Airsoft guns are fine playtoys... but not something to learn from.

Buy a pellet trap or kipe some phonebooks and makeup a few targets...
Sit the kid in the basement and  make em drill tacks at 20 yards.

Heck, when I was a kid, that was my reward for getting my school work done.. air rifle practice in the basement.

I'm the devil's son..... call me young gun.

Really?  A $40 gun with a trigger job, not sure this thing is very adjustable but am about ready to take it apart and find out.

With some of the higher end airsoft guns being around 500 fps, the move up to an air rifle is not necessary for surch short ranges.  Besides, my Crosman 760 is also a POS.  Pretty much need a hammer or pliers to put the safe on or off.  The airsoft is pretty slick in how it will stick bb's to a sticky target.  The kids love that!

Airsoft are fun, the kids use them to practice in the back yard. I got a pistol at walmart that was around 20 bucks. I dont think the trigger is bad. Trigger job was a joke, but if you can disassemble it, you might be able to use a dremel to take some material off a spring to lighten it up some. Took my son out to shoot my 9mm at pumpkin a few weeks ago. It was his first time ever shooting a non toy pistol and he was having no problem hitting them at 20 yards. I was impressed. Im sure it helped that him and his friends shoot airsoft during the summer.

Go get a Red Ryder. Best BB gun ever if you ask me. Hundreds of squirels, chipmunks and birds lost there lives to mine when I was young.

I joined the military not only to fight for my country but to fight for those that can't fight for themselves. Thats why I'm here.

Same here, my kids are now using the one I did as a kid.

If we're not supposed to eat animals, how come they're made out of meat?

They must have made them better when they first came out. I had one in the early 90s that wouldn't break skin on any creature.

You just have to shoot them in the eye with a Red Ryder. Makes you one hell of a shot

They used to be more powerful, they are plain anemic now. Prolly have better luck killing something with an airsoft pistol than a red rider these days.

go to www.airsplat.com and do your research but we have had trouble buying from them in the past, so we do our buying off of www.evike.com if i was you i would not buy bottom of the barrel but go with somthing like a M4 from a company called G&G. thats what i have and we play a fair bit of airsoft it is reliable, acceptably accurate and has good power/speed.

I agree.  I killed thousands of birds with mine but anything black bird or bigger had to be a well placed head shot.  I shot gophers in the eye (I know this because it was stuck in the eye on one) and that was about the only way to bring them down.  But sparrows and swallows by the hundreds per week when I was a kid.  Shot that Daisy until the stock fell off.  I loved that BB gun.
