Unless I'm wrong, I think the G & F advisory meetings start tonight.   At least in Bismarck.   Anybody going?  Might have to come early to get a good seat!  Or a seat at all!
Wings meeting afterwards?

I would have liked to attended the one in Bismarck tonight, but im not coming home until tomorrow. I would have also liked to make it to the berthold one, but again, its on a monday and ill be back at school. Kind of sucks they have these meetings during the week. Wish they would have them at least on a Friday night, if not a saturday night. One would think they would get a better turn out on the weekends?

Muzzy season starts Friday.  Montana deer is open 'til Sunday.  Some ice is thick enough to fish through.  A few of the refuges just opened up for pheasant hunting.  Whom do you suppose would be there on a weekend right now?

Fire off concerns by email or phone.

While doing so, ask them to video the advisory meetings and then everyone has access to everything.  Done deal.

Overall, even with muzzy season opening, and montana deer season still open, I think they would get more people to attend if it was at the end of the week, or on the weekends. How many guys live 100+ miles away from their deer hunting area? If it was near the weekend, they could possibly make the meetings. For me to travel 200 miles for a few hour meeting in the middle of the week, it  just doesnt add up for me. To each their own i guess.

Yep, with modern day elecrons racing around the world at the speed of light, they could videoconference some of those meetings.   Anyone could access them.

What address are you sending comments to?

ndgf@nd.gov  ?

Or do they have an address specifically for advisory meeting comments?

I already emailed Randy Kreil, Greg Power and Doug Leier directly, they are going to look into it, they sounded open to the idea. Ill keep you posted if I get any updates. Doug is a great guy to contact with any suggestions or comments. He is open to new ideas and will pass suggestions on to whoever they should go to. His email is dleier@nd.gov. You can also email that general address, but it might take a little longer to get a response that way.

You're better off emailing ndgf@nd.gov as often I do that as well, not knowing exactly who in Williston, Dickinson, Lonetree or other field offices might best answer the questions ro you can call 701.328.6300. Plenty of common questions available on our website gf.nd.gov and in back issues of ND Outdoors as well.
Thanks,
Doug

Did anyone go last night?   Are these things worth going to or is it one big gripe session dominated by a handful of people, usually ones that believe in things like mountain lion trailers?

There were about 51 people there last night, several were on FBO. I find value to them, always learn something new and got to meet people who are now in new positions that I will need to talk to in the future. I might be old fashioned but it is nice to shake someones hand and look them in the eye when you meet them.

I could post a detailed list of the topics and information discussed but since many (including the site manager/moderator) don't see much use in these meetings, I won't waste the time.

I was there, and yes a handfull of people raised concerns, but they are informative.
A couple highlights:
1.  Reports of good deer numbers and bad deer numbers.
2.  Approx. 250,000 acres of CRP were lost this year, approx. 850,000 acres go out next year.   Areas may not see record deer numbers back anytime soon with the loss of cover.
3.  CWD is moving north, ND has soil condusive to harboring the prion that causes it so eliminating the deer heard in that area, Grant County and far western Sioux county, will not cure the problem.  Proposal to expand the baiting and feeding ban to three adjacent units, 3E1, 3E2, and 3F1.
4.  Mule deer numbers are in the toilet.  Current recommendation from field staff is to cut Mule Doe tags to zero.  GnF is also meeting with Oil companies to try to manage impacts.
5.  Currently there are studies going on for Mt. Lions and Mule Deer impacts from 'The patch'.
6.  Fur prices should be better than years past.

These are the highlights I got, they are worth attending.
