4-year-old killed when four-wheeler overturns

A 4-year-old boy died Sunday as a result of injuries when a four-wheel all-terrain vehicle overturned in the family’s farmyard southwest of Rhame.

Bowman County Sheriff Rory Teigen said Calvin Steeke, was alone on the machine and apparently moving quite slowly when the accident occurred.

He is the son of Misty and Trevor Steeke.

Teigen said emergency responders took the boy to the Bowman hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff said there was not much detail in the report. “It was simple and matter of fact, it was something that just happened,” he said

"Something that just happened"!!!   How about if you are under 12 you have no business driving an ATV.   As I recall if a person is under 16 they are suppose to take a safety course first also.  Considering how often I see too young persons driving these things I'm surprised there isn't more of this sort of tragedy.
My prayers go out to the little guy.

Oh my goodness that is terrible.  As the father of a 3 1/2 yr old I can't imagine what the parents are going through.  My heart goes out to them and the little guy.  Very sad.

"When we step into the outdoors, we have the privilege of standing in the presence of God through the power and majesty of His creation. That makes hunting more than a sport or a hobby. It's a calling to something greater. And that transforms the places that we stand into something more than a cropfield or a pasture or a mountain. It makes that place Hallowed Ground."

Having a boy about the same age, I can only imagine the emotions of this family.  I pray the little guy did not have to suffer for too long.  I just couldn't stand to think of my little guy suffering from an accident like that.  Do agree with you TC, way to young to be driving by himself.  Just a sad tragic accident.

Yep. Exactly. If all rules were all always followed, and everyone drove the speed limit, and everyone wore seat belts and no on drove when it was icy or drove tired and no one ever took any risks or...yep...there'd be less accidents.   You're going to do a lot of typing if you point out "what the problem was" every time something tragic happened.

Prayers to the family.

Terrible...... I have small children and everyone thinks I am a worry-wort, but I couldn't live knowing my irresponsibility led to their death. Prayers being said that we don't have to read anymore articles such as this.

This is sad beyond mere words.

Very tragic.  Just saw the little guy last week.  My heart goes out to them.  Great family that didn't deserve this.  Really makes ya think, second guess, and realize all the close calls one has been in.  Just hard to find words.

No problem moose, long on beer and short on brains

The reason I posted this is the family needs the power of pray from both friends and strangers.  I would even pray for murdock if something happened to one od his kids.
