5th wheel pulling a boat, how long is to long for a camper?

Man trying to decide which 5th wheel to go with is a heck of allot tougher than I thought it was going to be! We had a 30.5 jayco jayflight and never had any trouble pulling it and the boats. 19-20.5 ft glass walleye boats.

We're looking at getting a brand new one, but it seems like the ones we like are all in that 37-38 foot. Now these days thats external length, I don't think they gave you lengths like that 10 years ago. What length are some of your 5th wheels that you pull a boat behind?
Boat I have now is 19 ft tandem with brakes.
What are some of the 5th wheels you'd recommend and which are some to avoid?
Seriously considering the Chaparral and Cougar lines right now. "bunkhouse models"

Leagal length limit is 75ft. overall length, if you ever get checked. I personally don't know any one who has been. I guess it just comes down to weight and what you feel comfortable pulling.
I guess my definition of change just ain't the same!

I know its 75 ft, was mainly wondering if any folks have ran into any towing issues.

I have a 06 Bighorn around 37-38 ft I believe and tow a Lund 1950 Grand Tye behind it. Never had any problems, even had a tire blow on the boat trailer and she pulled straight until I was able to pull over.

The length restriction  is 75 ft. My 3/4 Crew Cab short box, a 33ft Fifth Wheel (exterior length), and 19.5' boat measures 74 ft from front bumper to prop when all hooked together. With that said I see alot of people that are well over the length limit. I'm not saying that it's a good idea or not, just pointing out a fact.

Do any of you run air sensors in your campers or boats when towing them?

my last 5er was a Montana, 36ft'er; we double towed about 3 trips a year from 2004 to 2011 throughout mn & nd

when double towing it was either a 2 place atv trailer or a ranger 621

all hooked up we were 78' with the ranger; quite a bit less with the 2 place
didn't have any issues in mn (65' max) or nd (75' max)

fyi,
Pretty much all of the 5th wheels will not warranty frame issues if you double tow.  DO NOT listen to the salesman when they say its 'ok,' get that info from the manufacturer.
With the ranger on the back I was concerned about the stress being placed on the frame of the 5er; it wasn't a pleasant towing experience from that perspective.  But regarding trailing, braking, etc, all golden.

our new rig is 78' just with the truck and the 5er so no more double towing for us

i'm not

My in-laws are; they run a large diesel pusher with a 36ft enclosed.  They've had a couple tire failures on the trailer and the sensors informed them before they noticed.

On our current setup I can see the 5er's tires from the cab so I'm less concerned, if I was still double towing I think I'd be more inclined.

Short box F250, 36ft Cherokee 5th wheel, and a 1900 ProV.
We are at 75 almost exactly
Pulls better with the boat on the back than without.
We go to Mobridge once a year, breaking the length laws of SD however never been checked, and we sure arent the longest I see pulling into the State park.
