Are the Longbeards not putting on their usual Lake Darling tournament in early May? It might actually be interesting now that they've decided to remove the bouys.

That Lake Darling tournament should be made into a Walleye only Tournament and just give out a prize for the largest Northern and Largest Perch.

Luckily there are usually only a handfull (10) boats on the last day of FLW, it's not a big deal.  Plus, the south boundry of the the weed is the cannonball, if I were a betting man, I would say that most of those folks will be south of there....maybe a few at eckroths though.

No more excuses now!  But good news is you will be able to turn on your depth finder in the morning.

Will be an interesting bite in late August.

Anyone wanna bet that there'll be a permitted tournement on Devils every weekend  between Memorial and Labor day?  Already at least 11 different tournements in that timeframe, with some overlap.

I dislike "Sticker Boats".

I bet you are wrong.

AYA (1 day), MWC/Chamber, Casino, Teen Challenge(1 day), and Lake Region Anglers 1 day tourneys.  No FLW or AIM.  So about 8 or so by my count; but as my wife says, I am commonly wrong.

Hows that Kistler sticker?  or the bullet holes?

YES, I am that foolish!

I highly doubt there will be tournaments every weekend. I have grown up in DL my whole life and there has never been a tournament every year. However they are starting to promote the lake as a huge northern fishery...but lets get honest, how many northern tournaments are there. DL only holds one a year.

7 weekends so far from Mem-Lab weekends with 1 more event before.  13 permitted events, some overlap and/or run concurrently.

I don't think I have any bullet hole stickers on the current boat.  I do have the Kistler sticker that V gave me, I haven't puchased, requested, or been given any others.

Sticker boats are scourge upon fishermen and women out for a relaxing day on the water.

Most tournaments on lakes are non pro-sponsored.  So with exception of a couple tournaments very, very few of the people fishing in the tournaments wouldn't be fishing on any given weekend in the first place.  In fact, a tournament could actually make less boats on the water.  For instance, in the Governor's Cup here on Sakakawea there is something like 200 boats.  I bet at least half of those boats consisting of two man teams would actually turn into double the boats if it wasn't FOR the tournament.  Why?  Because most tourney folk are friends or family involved heavily in summer fishing.  And most likely, each of those fishermen have their own boat.  Hence, would probably be out taking their families or respected friends out fishing doubling the boat pressure compared to a tournament weekend.

Different for a pro tournament since those boats would probably not have been on the lake in the first place.  But even then, many of the pro tournaments offer open enrollment so quite a few of the pro tourney fields are consisted of local anglers anyway.

So in terms of overwhelming number of boats I just don't see it from a common sense approach.  I do, however, agree it can make a particular boat ramp a zoo.  But most prepare for that.  And really, the tournament heads do their best to make sure the public has good access.  At least Sakakawea tourney heads do anyway.

That's my view.

I just looked at the list.  At least for the DL tourneys alot of them are small group tourneys, I presume 40 boats or less.  Likely much less.  The Lake Region tourneys can have anywhere from 12-40 (or so I have seen over the years) and have been run on the lake for years.  AYA and TC are small, Casino has had 70 or less entrants the last 2 years.

CLay.
The only weekend you should have to worry about is tthe Chamber/MWC.  Most all of thge other tourneys have been run for years or have had similar tourneys (like the FOP and company tourneys) ran on the lake for years.  AYA is smalll and well run (with kids in the boat it is VERY respectful), Casino is out of the Casino where you rarely utilize, small company tourneys out of Grahams or Woodland, Lake Region tourneys are small and unassuming, and the Teen Challenge is small (only 10 boats last year).  Shouldnt be many worries about being overrun by those bastages with stickers.

YES, I am that foolish!

Those of you tailracers wanting to get in the tailrace tournament better get your butt's entered.  Word on street is 30 teams are signed up.  I believe they had 40 teams or so last year.

I hear ya Horseager.  Who doesn't love watching boats speeding through bays at 60 mph?

Lets keep this forum for tournament listing only.

If want to discuss tournaments in a principle fashion do so in a different topic.

Thanks folks.
