I recently bought a 17 caliber BoreSnake for my high power  pellet gun.  It is awesome 2 pulls through the barrel and it was extremely clean.  I could not believe how much lead was in the barrel.  I have one for my 12 gauge and 22 cal. and they work awesome and they are easy to use.

Yea so do I,  I first bought one for the .22 and found out how good they work, so I bought one for the 25-06 and 300 win mag.  I wish I had known about these earlier, it only takes about 10 seconds to clean the gun now.  As for my pellet gun I used to have to shoot these little felt pieces through the gun but now I just pull the .17 cal through it a few times and it is much cleaner than using the felt pieces.

Normal cleaning cycles I have 2 tipton carbon fiber rods...
I bring those rope ones with me just because I cant stand fouled weapons in the field....  theyre light and seem to last for a few seasons.
pretty cheap upkeep for weaponry.

no- they are just a rope with a cleaning brush. I usually soak one are of mine in solvent- the other side in oil...
a couple of passes and the bore is fine.... at least- for field work.
