Chevy has been talking about a 6 cylinder duramax diesel for the last 3 years, it was supposed to go in the hummer h2 and h3 then into half ton pickups but i haven't heard anything more than rumors for the last 2 years.....Dodge would definately get a look from a lot of us guys who don't want to pay 50k but pay 40k to pull our 5th wheels, horse trailers, and boats yet keep the half ton ride when we want to use our trucks like a car...interested to here what specs and performance numbers along with mpg dodge has on the table.

But can you jack it up, put stacks in the box, and a douche bag behind the wheel?

YOU probably can.

Do you think they will actually keep the price lower?  I will see it when I believe it.  Kinda like telling people to buy electric cars cuz they will save money on gas......then they charge 10k more than the gas version.

Haha, I was just kidding. I could care less what a guy does with his pickup, or work pickup. It sure does make for funny posts though

This is awesome, supposed to get over 25 mpg. And over 420 foot pounds torque. While the 6.7 liter by ford has 800 foot pounds torque, the older 7.3 liter had about the same as this turbo "ecodiesel" V6 by dodge. So i'll take that in a 1/2 ton for sure. Only like 240 hp, but hey, it's a 1/2 ton diesel.

I should be spearing instead of commenting this.

I know they're 50% owned by Fiat and 50% by GM.  Boy wouldn't that put Ford in a bind if Chevy and Ram were to cost-share and then use the same power-plant?

This press release came out in 2007 and it never happened. So ill believe it when I see it. The first company to come out with a half ton diesel will get my money.

Ram and GM already got a WHOLE BUNCH of it and you didn't even get a truck out of the deal/

unless that thing gets 30+ mpg you'd have to be retarded to buy one.  The cost of fuel and repairs would be a huge detriment over a gasser half ton.

GM offered a half ton diesel a few years back.  It had the 6.5 turbo in it.  I didn't think it really took off though since I don't see many around.

Former co-worker had one I rode in it a few times but didn't ever drive it.  That 6.5L was plenty for a 1/2 ton pickup, pretty peppy.  IIRC he'd get low 20's on the road @ 70ish.

I think I recall Ahab saying he had one too.
