10 y.o. black lab FREE to good home

My first pheasant dog is ready for a new home.  I have her replacement already in place.  We also have two young kids..you get the picture - the dogs don't get the attention that they once did.  This 10 year-old female black lab was pick-of-the-litter (Hanan Kennels in Elizabeth, MN) and I trained her to hunt birds when I moved to Dickinson back in 2000.  I tried to estimate the number of birds she retrieved and its well over 1,000.  I'm by no means a professional trainer but I spent many hours with her (before marriage and said kids).  She points and will occasionally hold birds for the slower-of-foot (she was not bred to point).  I have her pedigree which is full of MH and FC.  I did not register her as I didn't see the benefit and I also had her fixed soon after taking possesion. The reason for all this info is she still has some hunt left in her.  I would like to see her go to the proper place to finish her years as she deserves it.

This is sad. I don't know how you could ditch a friend like this.   I hope the dog has a great rest of its life as it deserves it for beng there for you for 10 years....

I'll say what others are thinking, your dog deserves you to see her to the end, when you get a dog, it is for better or worse.  Your dog is not a car, should of thought more about getting a pup if your family cant handle two dogs.  Its selfish to do what it seems you are doing.  With that said, I really hope there is more to the story, if there is, I apologize, but perception is everything and right now....doesnt look good.  Please do the respectable thing be loyale to your partner and hang with her till the end, she would for you.
